Richmond Yachts
Delivers the Big Boat
Sun
Chaser, the yard’s largest build to
date, will debut at the Fort Lauderdale
show
Vancouver,BC, Canada:
Richmond Yachts delivered its flagship,
142-foot Sun Chaser, to its owner, an Arizona
businessman. The new tri-deck, with a hull
pulled from the same mold as 138-foot Status
Quo, is hull number three in the series
and the yard’s first 142-footer. Built
to A.B.S. class and M.C.A. code Sun Chaser
features exterior styling by Ward Setzer.
The yacht will leave Vancouver on her own
bottom to be in Fort Lauderdale by the end
of August for the Fort Lauderdale International
Boat Show.
The layout, similar to
Staus Quo, includes the bridge-deck VIP
suite that completes the desirable six-stateroom
interior and there are lifestyle enhancing
details made possible by the 142’s
added length.
The main-deck master
stateroom and bath are two feet longer.
The galley is five-feet longer and two-feet
wider, providing enough space for a integral
dinette. The ceiling throughout the bridge
deck is four-inches higher, but the added
height is most noticeable in the coffered
ceiling of the skylounge.
The aft main deck is
five-feet longer, due to the additional
four feet of length and shortening of the
swim step; an additional two feet have been
added to the main salon.
All the aft deck areas
benefited with additional space, but those
who found the flybridge/spa deck impressive
on the 138 will find Sun Chaser’s
longer deck and its equipment even more
appealing. A large seven- by eight-foot
Jacuzzi is convenient to the half-moon shaped
bar with five stools. The bartender can
serve forward to the stools and aft to the
hot tub. Thoughtfully, a dayhead was added
on the spa deck, reducing traffic flow below
on sunny days.
Powered by a pair of
2,000-hp MTU 16V2000 engines Sun Chaser
is expected to have a top speed of 19 knots
and cruise comfortably at 16 knots.
Sun Chaser will be on
display at the Fort Lauderdale International
Boat Show slip 15 on the face dock at the
Bahia Mar.
Additionally
Status Quo sells and the yard has two more
boats in build.
Brokerage
Status Quo, Richmond’s
138-footer, and the first yacht produced
with the Richmond nameplate, recently sold
to an Australian businessmen through the
efforts of Grant Torrens International Marine
in Australia. Grant and Sharon Torrens are
the brokers of record.
Under
Way
Hull #4, a 142-footer is under construction,
and has a deal pending. Richmond started
hull #5, its third 142, on spec and it is

in the schedule to allow for the owner’s
creative input. Launch dates are pending.
